"My daughter asked me, why is the sleeping beauty so beautiful? Is it because she sleeps a lot?" Axelsson recalled. "As a scientist, I couldn't answer, so I had to do a study."For those of us who aren't always able to get that restful night's sleep.
Cozy up:
- Make sure your bed, is only for sleep. Using it for other activities like surfing the internet will not easily enable your body to recognize your bed as bedtime.
- Keep your room cool and let yourself "hibernate"
- Make sure your pillow & mattress is suitable for your body -- flat, plush, airy etc
Prepare, prepare, prepare:
- Stop drinking caffeine at least 8 hours before you sleep
- Avoid napping (or at least no longer than 20-25 min)
- Refrain from eating four house before you sleep (that' a tough one...)
- TRY not to use your computer before you sleep, turn it off 1 hour before you sleep.
I tried this, and it makes a WORLD of a difference.
Morning sunshine:
- Let some daylight in in the morning, it will help set your internal sleep clock!
The Golden Rule: Go to sleep & wake up at the same time everyday.
Hmmm, anyone have an alternate solution for that one?
